What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin but durable shells that are designed to be cemented over teeth, thereby concealing flaws such as chips, gaps, cracks, and stains or even reshape teeth that are misshapen or stubby. They are versatile enough to cover many imperfections at once and are made from high-quality materials such as ceramic or porcelain that make them gorgeously lifelike, stain-resistant, and able to last for many years before needing to be replaced. Once placed, they seamlessly blend in with your smile so that no one else will know that you have them unless you tell them.

The Process of Getting Veneers

Before receiving dental veneers, you’ll need to have a consultation at our office so our dentist can make sure you are a good candidate for treatment. Placing veneers typically takes two appointments, and during the first, Dr. Garza will remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth after using a local anesthetic to render the process painless. He will then take dental impressions to be sent to a dental lab and place temporary veneers on the treated teeth. Each veneer will be customized by a skilled technician at the lab so that it can be perfectly flush with the rest of your smile.

Your second appointment will take place after Dr. Garza receives your permanent veneers about two weeks later. The temporary set will be removed and the permanent veneers will be cemented on your teeth. After any final adjustments, you’ll be sent on your way to enjoy life with your new smile.

The Benefits of Veneers

Many cosmetic dental treatments can enhance the beauty of your teeth, but veneers are especially versatile and can create the greatest difference in your smile. Some key advantages of veneers include:

  • Veneers can address one or more dental flaws with one treatment.
  • Veneers are incredibly lifelike and will surely go completely unnoticed by casual observers.
  • The treatment process is quick, painless, and minimally invasive.
  • Having a smile you can be proud of can bolster your confidence and create new social and professional opportunities.
  • While receiving veneers is irreversible, these shells are incredibly durable and stain-resistant and can last for fifteen years or more before needing replacement if they receive excellent care.
